Submitted By: Kurt Bauer on 07/11/2012 Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Great little cigar when you want a quick smoke but don't have time for a full-sized stick. Overall, for what it is, you won't go wrong by picking up a box or two.

Submitted By: Michael Levitt on 12/09/2010 Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] The Macanudo Ascot Cigar Alternatives are a smooth, mild well-made, individually wrapped small cigar which is a great smoke when time is limited, smoked with a Scotch Whisky as I sit on my balcony looking at Sydney Harbour on a summer evening. They are top quality cigars that are indistinguishable from Macanudo Ascots but much cheaper. This is my third purchase of these cigars and even better, they have come in duty and tax free through Australian Customs! A really good buy and a pleasant, smooth, consistent smoke.

Submitted By: Armando Fraga Sr. on 08/04/2010 Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] These ARE great little cigars. Excellent smoke, very good taste. I do smoke others, and my faves are the Macanudo Portofinos, but I smoke the Ascots Alternatives by far the most. I order about twice a year.
I am not a heavy smoker, and don't touch cigarettes.
Hope this helps.
Armando.

Submitted By: Gary Kaul on 05/05/2010 Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] An excellent cigar for the money. All are 1sts, not 2nds ....,. in appearance and flavor. Good burn, long ash, don't bite. They are what I expected for the money, and what I received.

Submitted By: Rob Schlecht on 11/23/2009 Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] I hate to rate these alternatives to the Ascots so high and alert people to their quality, because they will just go to shorter and shorter supply but I can't help it. These little gems are awesome. I've been enjoying the Old Fashioned Chicos for years but with the recent price increase I didn't know where I was going to next. These fit the bill in every way. I actually like them much better than the chico's. I hope you guys keep these in stock at reasonable prices for years to come.

Submitted By: Robert Peelstrom on 11/09/2009 Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] You simply can't go wrong. They're consistently well-manufactured and wrapped. The smooth taste is consistent as well. Consider this: they're less expensive than the competition's smaller girly-man cigarillos!

Submitted By: Ted Kunzog on 12/30/2010 Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] OK, maybe it would pass for a Macanudo in a blind 'puff' test. That said, they are very good and hard to beat for the price.

Submitted By: Mark Dobson on 11/14/2009 Rating: [4 of 5 Stars!] Very good value for a small cigar. About 150 cigars into the latest purchase, the cigars are very consistent in appearance and taste. (very close to the Mac Ascots). A previous order resulted in a more "maduro" type cigar with a much tighter wrap. Glad I gave them anther try.

Submitted By: Glen Miller on 03/27/2012 Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!] While the taste remains the same I am disappointed with the reduction in length and ring size since my last order. Why not raise the price and get the cigar back to where it was before?

Submitted By: John Sullivan on 06/14/2011 Rating: [2 of 5 Stars!] I have enjoyed Macanudo ascots for 19 years but was intriqued by the lower cost of these alternatives so tried them. After trying 10 or so mixed with the real thing I have come to the conclusion as an alternative, okay, as a knockoff, you will be dissapointed.
First of all, the alternative is not quite as large, making them more of a cigarello. I was able to fit 11 alternatives in my Macanudo tin of 10. Secondly, the filler is a harsher smoke and smokes faster, perhaps due to the smaller size.
I was hoping to save a significant amount of money but since I can afford the real ones I will not purchase these again.
I hope this is posted and helps you in your decision making.

Submitted By: Mike Cohen on 10/18/2012 Rating: [1 of 5 Stars!] Good little cigar. They are never in stock. Backorders are 2 months. By the time I re-visit the site they are sold out and backordered another 2 months. Sometimes I'm lucky and just happen to visit on the day they are in stock. It's kind of an ad for other sites that do stock the product!
