i don't like them much at all. they are the unfortunate alternative to the very nice macanudo alts.
Half of these cigars are rolled so tight they don't smoke, don't pull nice. or cooperate in the least little bit. They do not like my draw poker and tend to rip through the sides when used,so I am left with cutting them in half and hope for the best at times.

when they do smoke they are nice and tasty though!

The Macanudo Ascot Alternatives were out of stock, so I tried the Parigas Puritos Alternatives. What a wonderful surprise. They are a very tasty, slow burning cigar; with a little more body than the Macanudos. I will most likely reorder these.

So I read the reviews and decided to take the chance on a bundle of these alternatives and quite frankly these are a very good cigar. Very, very close to a Macanudo in every way (I really would not be able to tell the difference). Mild to taste, burned perfectly true, absolutely no bitteness or afternotes. Wrapper was very nice and draw was perfect. This is a very good every day stick and one that can enjoyed just relaxing, playing a round of golf or with a few good friends. Oh yeah, did I metnion the price...great value. Conclusion, I'm sold and will be stocking up on these for sure. Great job Cigar Hut...

While they are still the best value around for a short smoke, the new formulation of the Puritos alternative suffers by comparison to the old one. The taste is spot on, but the construction isn't nearly as good as the previous generation. Nearly every one that I have smoked out of my most recent order has had problems with uneven burn, canoeing and/or tunneling. Please bring the original alternatives back, Cigar Hut.

I have enjoyed Macanudo ascots for 19 years but was intriqued by the lower cost of these alternatives so tried them. After trying 10 or so mixed with the real thing I have come to the conclusion as an alternative, okay, as a knockoff, you will be dissapointed.
First of all, the alternative is not quite as large, making them more of a cigarello. I was able to fit 11 alternatives in my Macanudo tin of 10. Secondly, the filler is a harsher smoke and smokes faster, perhaps due to the smaller size.
I was hoping to save a significant amount of money but since I can afford the real ones I will not purchase these again.

I must say having purchased the Partagas Alternatives and finding them to be an excellent mild but full flavoured smoke, I expected the Macanudo Alternatives to be a more peppery blend as is with the real Ascots.
However I have found them to be very mild and an easy draw. I do think they are a fantastic smoke and they burn beautifully.
But I am now partial to the Partagas having a bit more body and great flavour.
Mind you I will still mix and match as I find them both to be a really good everyday cigar with the enjoyment factor to match.

I bought this bundle as an alternative for a box of Macanudo Baron de Rothschild (natural wrapper).
And that's exactly how they are advertised, as alternatives for Rothschilds.
Which is fine by me, because in this instance, "The Cigar Hut" is being
entirely truthful, a very good thing in this day and age!!!
Negatives:
1. the construction is not as good as a Macanudo Rothschid or a Don Tomas #200, both of which I prefer as a late afternoon smoke on the weekends when a guy can really relax, but no surprise there!
2. and I found them to have a decent favor but again, not as good as a Macanudo or a Don Tomas
Positives:
1. the price for 20 cigars is excellent, especially for 100% tobacco cigars
2. the consistency of construction and draw is good
3. all-in-all, they are, for me, a really decent mild-to-medium choice of an everyday cigar for my 40-45 minute ride home in the afternoon

The Macanudo Ascot Cigar Alternatives are a smooth, mild well-made, individually wrapped small cigar which is a great smoke when time is limited, smoked with a Scotch Whisky as I sit on my balcony looking at Sydney Harbour on a summer evening. They are top quality cigars that are indistinguishable from Macanudo Ascots but much cheaper. This is my third purchase of these cigars and even better, they have come in duty and tax free through Australian Customs! A really good buy and a pleasant, smooth, consistent smoke.
